J.R. Peters Sr., was house parent

J. Robert Peters Sr., 81, a former house parent at the Milton S. Hershey School, died Sunday June 18, 1989 at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. Peters, of 219 Owl Hill Road, Lititz, was the husband of Dorothy Martin Peters. The couple observed their 52nd wedding anniversary on Jan. 1.

Peters, a retired farmer, was a house parent with his wife from 1941 to 1954 at the Hershey school. He then worked 28 years for B.R. Kreider and Son Inc., a Manheim R1 excavating firm. In retirement he had taken the caretaker job at Hess Mennonite Church of Lititz, where he was a member and a former trustee. He was a member of the Black Rock Retreat Association of Quarryville, the Hershey Hunting Club for more than 40 years, the East Petersburg Senior Citizens and the Lititz Men's Prayer Breakfast group.

Born in West Lampeter Township, he was the son of the late Frank M. and Emma Rudy Peters. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, J. Robert Jr., Lititz; a daughter, Doris J., wife of R. Clair Sauder, Lancaster; three grandchildren; and a sister, Myrtle E. Brubaker, Willow Street..

PETERS, SR. Entered into rest in Lancaster on June 18, 1989, ROBERT PETERS, husband of Dorothy H. Martin Peters, 219 Owl Hill Road, Lititz, Pa. in his 82nd year. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service from Hess Mennonite Church, Warwick Township, on Wednesday, June 21 at 10 A.M. with the Rev. Mark Boll, Rev. Paul Weaver, Rev. Rayservice. mond Bucher and Rev. Richard Hess officiating.

Interment in the Hess Mennonite Church Cemetery, adioining the church. Friends may call at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata, Pa. on Tuesday evening, 7 to 9 P.M. and also at the church Wednesday, 9 A.M. until time of service. Those desiring may direct memorial tributes to the Black Rock Retreat Associaare tion, 1345 Kirkwood Pike, Quarryville, Pa. 17566.
